I am interested in purchasing a bluetooth GPS interface for my PDA (IPAQ 4705). I am new to the PDA world (as well as GPS) so I am not sure what to look for in regards to compatibility. I have done some searches for a bluetooth GPS device and have gotten very confused about compatibility. For example, I looked at Pharos naviagtion kit and selected there product:
http://www.mobileplanet.com/private/pharos/product.asp?dept_id=2350&pf_id=MP730893M&listing=1?
iPAQ 4700 is not in the list but yet other iPAQ's are in the list. Is there anything that is compatible? Do they not support the OS and or CPU or is iPAQ4705 too new to be listed?
I would appriciate any help.
Thanks. |

Welcome to the forums.
In general you can assume that any Bluetooth receiver will work with any bluetooth enabled PDA and Smartphone. They probably didn't care to update the list.
Are you sure you want to go for the Pharos? It's kinda sub-standard. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the prompt response...
What bluetooth GPS device would you suggest? I To be honest with you, it will be a "toy" so I am not looking for the best device. |

depends on your budget. The latest toy is the BT-338, with a very good performance. I also happen to like the DeLorme BlueLogger which is less performant but has a 50000 data points memory to log where you have been.
As for software - have a read through our reviews, you may find software that's more fun to play with than the Ostia stuff. _________________ Lutz
