Mio 168 antenna positioning

Quite a trivial question, since it seems to work both ways, but in which position are you MEANT to have the built in antenna, out at 90 degrees with the flat top pointing to the sky, or all the way up as far as it will go? I've seen pictures of it being used both ways round, and through testing it seems to work both ways, but which way are you MEANT to use it??

it's meant to be used with the antenna in horizontal position, but it's pretty sensitive and can be used flush to the case too without much difference in signal. Definitely no need to put it all the way up.

I find mine works best (and starts up quickest) if I put it at about 30 degrees from horizontal.
