navigon transonic

hello i've just bought a navigon transonic, i've registered it and canot get any gsm it stays on 0 or skips from 3 to 0, this may seem a very silly question but being new to these things does the flap / square arial flip thing have to be up, and if so how, because it seems stuck???/ help please

Yes its best if it is in the up position, I have mine at right angles to the unit and I always get around 7-8 sats on it.
