|
|
Hi & thanks for reading this message.
My brother has asked me to help him set up his
Medion PPC250 as he cannot get the device to recognize the GPS.
I have gone into the Setup and tried all of the combinations for the various com ports & speeds to no avail, could someone tell me the correct port and baud rate to use.
Also (and I appreciate this may be a silly question!!). Where is the actual GPS reciever? as the aerial plugs into the power lead connector and then into the base of the PDA, is the receiver built into the PDA.
Any help would be appreicated.
Thanks

Should be Serial Cable on SP2, depending on the software you could find that on COM1 or COM2.
Baud 4800
Standard GPS receiver |

You should have a lead to use in the car with the pda, & on there is a "Y" connector, this is where the supplied gps receiver module plugs into. |

I have the PDA with the Y connector, but the aerial is connected into the Y socket, is the GPS receiver additional to the aerial?
Thanks

I'm assuming that you have got a GPS reciever, but, you are refering to it as an aerial.
The reciever needs power and a clear view of the sky..... If you are trying to set it up in your house without a clear view or a mains adaptor plugged into your PDA it won't work.
The easiest way would be to set it up in your car. Plug the cig adaptor in and bung the GPS reciever (aerial) on the dash (or on the roof to be 100% sure).....
Try Com1 - Baud rate 4800 (If not play about with dif settings)
Give it plenty of time to get a fix....its not instant 1st time.. _________________ MEL 'B' |
