Problem with TomTom Navigator com1 error.

I recently had an non-intentional hard boot on my Pocket PC and so have had to reinstall TT Navigator 3. I now have an error message when I launch TT to say that "cannot open COM1 port does not exist". I have a bluetooth GPS receiver.

What have I done wrong? I didn't have this problem the first time I installed it.

if your using bluetooth then com1 wont be the port you need to be using if you could let us know which pda an bt gps you have then we could give you better information ton get it going

That doesn't help us much as we don't know what receiver you had!

If it plugs into the bottom then it is a GPS Mouse and this normally uses COM1

On the XDA2 and m1000's you get this error if you have 'Receive incoming beams' enabled, goto Start | Settings | Connections - Beam and untick the box.

Now if I had a pound for every time I've answered that one, I'd have oooh £12 maybe ;)

Hi Darren

Many thanks, I have unticked the beam thing and it now seems to work.

I am not sure how I could have described my gps receiver other than a bluetooth tomtom one.

It doesn't have a plug in the bottom. For future reference, what should I have quoted with reference to the gps receiver?

I'm still not sure what receiver you have! If it's bluetooth then the COM1 issue should not occur. Does it look like this?

The first is the TomTom Bluetooth and the second is the TomTom GPS Mouse.

It's the top one, not the mouse but it only looks like the bottom bit of the top one. It doesn't have the bit that sticks out of the top in your picture.

I have taken off the beam thing you recommended and I don't get the com1 error anymore but the receiver is still not communicating with my ppc.

I have bonded them and tomtom receiver appears but when I run TomTom navigator the condition remains gps postition unreliable.

When the com1 error was there it said gps disabled so there is an improvement but I still can't use it.

What settings have you configured TomTom to use to communicate with the GPS Receiver? For Bluetooth with the XDAII/m1000 it should be COM5.

Right, bonded it again and the only com port offered to me is com7.

start up tomtom and going to GPS in the menu uncheck the blue box at the side of this are to other boxes these contain dropdown menus tap the tom one from the drop down menu select TOMTOM WIRELESS GPS highlight this then in the next box down select BLUETOOTH GPS this is the last option in the drop down menu after doing that recheck the blue box turn on the receiver and you should seen some dots moving across the screen and evfentually you shoukld get a fix

In your post the top picture shows the BT GPS in the holder, I have posted elswhere to ask where I can obtain one of these, or a model number of it etc., do you know where I can obtain one, or where you got the picture from?
