Hi guys,

After reading the reviews on i.trek mouse gps, I bought the bundle listed in the topic from semsons.com. I am live in malden, MA. And after connecting and installing everything, I found out that the gps signal here is very poor. I don't know if this is related to i.trek or to my area. Basically, I can only get a good signal in the parking lot of a mall here. Once I left the parking lot, I lost the signal. Is this normal?? If this is i.trek's problem, instead of my city's, then this is useless for me. (so far I haven't tried any other areas yet). But what's the situation with you? can you get a good signal? or can some one tell me is this normal??

thanks,

not-very-happy

Hi there, welcome to the forum.

The poor reception can have multiple reasons, but none of them have to do with GPS (the G stands for "Global") .

Either your receiver is bad, or you have a tinted windshield, or your car's electronics are interfering with the reception. Something like that.

What happens when you place the receiver on the roof of your car?

Hi,

Thank for your information. That's very helping. I just did another try. And it turned out that it was something wrong with all the cable connections. And I have to hang my pda upside down in order to get constant signal. Thanks God that TomTom has the option to rotate the screen. Otherwise, I have to write with my head twisted upside down.
