I am using a Ipaq 3970 with a Navman Jacket which cant pick up any sats. So my question is.....which is the best Bluetooth reciever to get and what is the general trend on the best place to put it? now when I say the best dont forget price comes in to play !!!!!
Cheers all

Hi there,

If price is a big consideration, then look at the Globalsat BT-308. This can be picked up easily for about £50 now and often less. It is last years technology but that doesn't detract from it's effectiveness.

If you want the latest, then the Globalsat 338 is attracting all the plaudits at present but expect to pay £100 or thereabouts plus some. If you drive a lot in the City then consider this new model especially for it's abilities in urban situations.

I have been using a BT-308 for a year now. It is well made, has performed faultlessly in all situations across the continent (often through a vehicle roof) and will last up to 11 hours on a full charge.

Good luck,
Steve

Hi,

No Picasso - A motorhome and my trusty old Mondeo.

I guess a heat reflective windscreen will cause big problems with any GPS receiver and you will have to look for a way round that (unless somebody knows different).

Many people have success with a BT device in the boot out of view. I have used mine in the Mondy glovebox and it will also work through the GRP roof of my motorhome without any signal degradation. Looking up out of the rear window is a favourite I think.

The Globalsat BT-308 comes complete with a supplementary aerial on a long lead. This could be mounted almost anywhere other than directly below your windscreen in the Picasso and wired to your BT receiver.

My view is that if you are looking to save a few bob then the 308 is a steal at 50 quid'ish.

Steve

Hi there

Hasn't the picasso got those extra windows in front of the door pillar?
are they also heat reflective glass? if they arn't can you not put it in that position so it can "see" out that way.

H again,
Yes the Picasso has got the small windows at the front but I didnt get any joy there, probs due to only being able to see a small percentage of the sky. Just been out to the car trying different areas in the car and the back window looks favourite as I get a good signal there and there is also a power supply there which is perfect for a bluetooth reciever.

You can also put the GPS behind the rear view mirror at the top of the windscreen where there is an area of the glass which is not heat reflective...
