I have been doing some research on PNA's and with a budget of upto £400, it looks like a choice between the Medion (and derivatives of) 150 OR the Mio 269.
Requirements are basically:
- portability
- covers UK as well as Europe (perdominantly Italy & Switzerland) at the street map level
- can also be used out of the car
Also noticed that both of the above rely on Navigon's Mobile Navigator v4 software, which has now been superseeded by Navigon's Mobile Navigator v5.
Should I wait till v5 finds its way into the units, or can I still buy one with v4.2 and upgrade free of charge to v5, assuming it is better?
Have also ruled out a GPS add-on to PDA's (I have a Tungsten, which I believe would not happily take a Kirrio due to its limited RAM, and would not consider buying another PDA).

You would be better of waiting a few weeks for TomTom 5 to become available with different packages, or if you want to go the Medion route then you would need to use a program called POI-Warner to add poi's such as the Safety Camera data from this web site, but please note that the Mio268/269 cannot use add-on poi's as there operating system is basically looked.
Most Medion systems use a version of Navigon which can use poi's with the add-on POI-Warner software, which costs about 30 Euros.
If you decide to purchase a Medion system, then I would check back at this forum to make sure that you can use the add-on poi's, one or two of the Medion systems are not easy to add poi's.
PDA systems are more flexible compared to PNA systems.
Took a look at the reports for TomTom 5 - doesn't it need a minimum of 32MB on the PDA (Palm) to work properly (vs 16MB on the Tungsten T)? I was also hoping to be GPS equipped before the end of May long holiday weekend, when I can test drive it to Devon.
Will look further into the Medions - noted that Navigon has a PNA running on their MobileNavigator|5 software, but not sure when & where it is available.
