Hi, last week i bought a medion 175 sat nav and it works great in the car and outside, the problem i have is that when i try to use it in my truck ( r reg merc ) it dose not work. I have started it working while outside and away from the truck and all is ok, but when i get to 2 feet away from truck it stops working . I have even sat on the roof of the truck and still dose not work although it works in other trucks. The truck dose not have tinted or heated screen but it has got an alarm fitted which dosenot work. I have been in touch with medion and they can not help , also i have been to a mobile sat nav dealer / fitter who said the truck seems to have a force field round it, . I would be very greatful for any ideas on this matter.
Regards colin.. |

Does it lose the sat link?
Do you have any other electrical items working like a two way radio etc..?
Does you truck have a tracer in it for when it is stolen or for tracking you?
If it has tracking devices in it they will probably be near the same frequency as the Sat Nav system and will interfere with the signal.
Hope these ideas may help.
Regards

Hello Colin
What type of truck is it, and does this only happen when you are by the cab area, if so then as tel33 said in his post you may have a tracking system fitted to it which is radiating a signal that is blocking the gps from picking up the sats, think you have been bugged! (or) bugg***d in your case, only joking.
As I don't know your actual system can you use a bluetooth receiver that could be placed away from the cab aera, if its an all in one type system then may be a separate cable connected antenna could be placed away from the cab area. |

Hi ,sorry for my late thanks but i have been down south for a few days , anyway thanks for your reply and ideas, yes the truck has got a tracker but i must say i never gave it a thought. the sat nav will lose signal when i get to within 2 feet from the cab so it could be that
I have had a word with the boss and he is going to give me a differant truck with no tracker
My very Best Regards
