Have a 4700 and BT GPS at the mo. Managed to get it working at the shop last week when whatever he done made Com8 appear as an option in the GPS menu... However had had to hard reset tonight and now com8 is gone and back at square one again.

Anyone tell me how to get it to appear as an option? Have the GPS paired and have managed a connection through the BT manager but not getting any GPS signal.

Have you installed it properly?

TT Nav 3 and it has been on and off about 3 or 4 times now.

When we got it working in the shop the software was not removed/added - just playing around with something made Com 8 appear as an option.

One thing I have noticed tho is that under pairing it still shows a question mark on the icon

go into the gps applet there 2 dropdown boxes top one should be ttbluetooth gps and the bottom one should be bt on should be bt on com 8 or something like that just uncheck the blue box before trying to change the settings then recheck the box to make em work

Thats the problem, under the GPS applet it only goes to com 5... the option for com8 has vanished again (after the h/w reset)

I dont know what the guy done in the shop to make it appear and tbh dont think he did either.

, starting to look like I will get a Go instead.. shame as I had it working quite well with it in my pocket and using a BT headset for the instuctions..

Have everything except BT disabled and have 3.07 installed.

Now having said that I have just tried reinstalling TomTom again (on top of the existing installation) - it crashed, I reset, it hung, I reset - Tom Tom finished installing and now have a few more com ports listed along with the elusive Com 8!! :D

No idea once more but hey ho...

It is not always com8 !

Different PPC and depending on what other software/hardware you have installed, the com port may be different.

So try other available BT com port.
