Hello,

I am considering buying TomTom Navigator. I don't own a PDA (not a proper one anyway) yet but I have been looking at the Palm TUNGSTEN T3. My question is about the car kit that comes with the TomTom products. How does it mount to the car?

I have a quite new car and I do not want to damage the dash with glue or drilled holes. Also I often travel with other people in their vehicles so I would want it to be transferable. I have seen photos of windscreen mounts, does this use glue?

This forum has proved very useful as I see that a new version of TomTom (version 5) is due out soon. So I think I’ll hang on for that.

Thanks.

Chris.

The windscreen mounts use a suction cup. This attaches to the windshield, and is a relatively ok way of mounting the PDA in the car. It will wobble a bit depending where you place it and if you can rest it somewhere on the dash etc.

Another option is a vent mount - goes into the existing holes of your aircondition vents. This has the added bonus that the PDA gets cooled - not to be underestimated especially in summer.

The third common option is a mount that attaches to an adapter that's specific for your car. Brodit do a lot of those, most of them work without damaging the car's interior.

Cool! I own a convertiable so the vent option might be the road to follow (excuse the pun). Laughing
