TT USA maps and TT5

Am I right in thinking that the new release of TT USA and TT5 will infact be the same product with just the maps differing?
If this is the case will we be able to buy just the USA maps and use them on the same TT5 program we have installed here?

And what sort of price would the USA maps be? Is there an option to just buy certain states?

yes, that's how it should work

No prices have been communicated yet but they won't be much different from the current ones.

individual maps will most probably be part of the TomTom Plus program. But this will rather be city maps than entire states.

But do we know if TT5 will be backward compatible with current USA maps as I don't go there very often now and don't want to buy a full set of Maps again , when the ones I have now work with my TT3

right now it looks like TTN5 cannot open v4 (2004) maps (I tried a few). We'll try and get an official statement from TomTom if that will true for the release version too.

That will be a shame if it's true, I may have to hold off upgrading to TTN5 until after my Florida trip next April.

Thanks for trying and look forward to hearing the official gen if there is any.
