Sometimes the arrow that shows which way/dirrection you're going, turns, so that you move sideways in the map. Thats very annoying, cause you cant see the road ahead.

Why does it do so, and how do I fix it?

I am guessing that you are stationary in traffic when this happening or you are in a "urban" canyon.

In either these situations, it is possible for the GPS to "wander" while is collects all the locations and thus the map will change direction.

I dont think so, I've noticed that it happens in random places, city, country-side, high-way, so thats not the problem.
