axim settings

I'm a complete newbie with regards to gps and maps in general. I was given an axim x30 and tomtom nav 3.07 at work and told the usual "here get this working". I've managed to set it up and its working ok, so I can get the gps readings and use the s/w ok.

My problem is this, (Apologies if I sound like a cretin!) I need the gps readings to be in a format E & N for input into a database but the gps always seems to read as N & W. I've trawled through the settings but I've not been able to find a way to switch this.

Can anyone help?

the N & W will be because you are w of the meridian line and north of the equator.

It would be impossible to get an "E" reading unless you are east of greenwich.

I cross the line every morning and evening and the gps status page changes from E to W and back again.
