With the absence of a mains power adaptor in the up and coming Go 300, has anyone has every used a generic replacement with the previous version or do they use a proprietary connector?

TTG "Classic" uses a standard power connector avaialble from Maplin and other electronic parts suppliers.

The PSU must be able to cope with up to a 2A surge for charging the TTG and must supply a regulated 5 volts. This is not a very common supply voltage outside IT circles. It must also supply be wired to supply the correct voltage polarity. Failure to observe polarity or votage specs will likely kill your TTG.

I have several USB hubs that use the same connector and voltage rated at 2A.

I suspect Tom Tom will offer the supply as an option at a reasonable price. I would recommmend you take that option if available.

Thanks - I only ask because I have several Generic/variable voltage adaptors around brought for long dead equipment - the 2A could be a bit of a killer though.
