TomTom 5 - when? Is it worth buying a TomTom now?

I was helping my mum buy a GPS device as she knows pretty much nothing about computers and technology, but does a lot of driving and could really do with one.

I was about to just buy a TomTom, but I heard that there's a new version(/model?) out soon, and dont want to find out I could have got it cheaper just by waiting a week.

Will there be a big difference between the new and older model, and if I get the older model, could it just be upgraded?

Which TomTom do you mean? As you are talking about a 'model' I'm guessing the TomTom GO? You do realise there are many other types, e.g. for PDA, mobile phones...

If you are talking about the GO, I would consider waiting for a while. The three new models should be out within a month or two.
