Hello...
I need an clear answer now:
A lot of TomTom's equipment (GO, HP NavPack, Universal holder, Car Cit, Charger for TT BT-GPS) comes with an sigarette-lighter adapter.
I know that on som models there is an voltage-reduction inside the sigarette-lighter adapter itself, and on the CarCits it's placed inside the holder itself.
Can someone tell me if you can use 12 and 24 volt on ALL the the sigarette-lighter TomTom ship with their stuff...? _________________ Gunnar Nystul, Forum Admin, TomTom Forum Norway and Nystul Navigasjon |

Hi Zeena,
Mostly of good adapters just produced the desired output with independence of what it's the source. They act as stabilized source. Mine works in my pushbike (6v), car (12v) and used it with 24v when driving coaches.
Basically and between some limits voltage has not effects. It's the current (Amp) that can cause a source or device blows.
To do a test get a pushbike bulb (6 v) and similar consumption to your device. Use a couple wires to feed it with your adapter and plug in your 24 v lighter. If bulb lights constant and uniform and doesn't blow your PDA will work too.

Well - I placed my question at TomTom Support:

And TomTom Support answered:

The cigarette lighter can be plug-in in a 12 or 24volt. It will be converting to 5.
We hope to have answered your question to your satisfaction.
With best regards,
