|

Hello,
I purchased a Navman icN 510 yesterday (06.04). Very happy with the unit upon testing it on the drive home from work yesterday.
Unfortunately, after updating the software last night, I now get the following error message
ASSERT FAILURE: ode\mapengine\mapengine\engine\enmfile.c
Line: 186 Test: os_exit() called
The unit then locks up whilst trying to load the maps.
If I remove the card the unit doesn't lock up, but of course no card = no maps.
I tried a re-install of the software to the unit but this did not rectify things.
Any advice please.
Thanks |

If you have your map and app. keys (in order that you might re-register if required) then it might be worth formatting the storage card and trying from scratch. _________________ Tim |

Thanks Tim,
I have a 512mb card in my PDA with a lot of spare capacity, so I copied al the maps from the CD to this card. Using this card I have been able to get things going again. The original card was from Navman and was pre loaded with maps. Is there anything special about this card, or is it just an ordinary SD card with a label?
I'm completely blown away by the accuracy of the Navam. Using it on the way in to work thismorning, when stopped at intersections, it had me placed pretty well in the spot wher I was. Also, the speed seemed fairly accurate, as it was showing about 2-3km/h under what what my spedo was indicating - and I know my spedo is out by around 3km/h. Unit is easy to use, the only dislike I have is the keyboard - would rather it be a QWERTY style. |

Have you downloaded the software patch from the Navman website as I believe this has a correction to your problem . This 'Patch' also has about eight other improvements to the original software. Worth having a look. _________________ Gee-Pee

Thanks GeePee. I had originally downloaded the patch and this is where I think things went wrong. I've alo re-installed the maps onto the original Navman SD card, and all seems to work well.
I'm not sure how things got all corrupted, but I've read recently that when using USB cables for hot-syncing PDA's you should use the native USB ports on your PC, and not say a hub plugged into the native port. I had the Navmans USB cable connected to a hub. When I reinastalled everything, I connencted directly. |

That's useful information. I could have quite likely used my USB hub had you not told me. Will ensure future connections are plugged into the native port. No longer .............!! _________________ Gee-Pee
