Run without route?

I'm thinking of getting a Navman 510 to replace my TomTom Navigator 3. My question is this. I used to have a Navman GPS Jacket for an old ipaq, but it didnt run unless a route was planned. Can the 510 just run without a route planned and just showing the moving map and POI such as speed cameras?

Yes it can run giving you the speed camera warnings ect. without having to input any routes.
