I have just bought the Smart ST V3 software to upgrade my older V1.91 using the Navman SE sleeve on my Ipaq 3970. After deleting V1.91 and performing a soft reset I tried to install V3. The installation process freezes when trying to synchronise with mobile device. I have the latest version of Activesync (3.8). Anyone know what's going on? 8O |

Probably a great deal of panic I think Not just yours but probably most V3 purchasers and Navman too,
It's a good job that such a safe and reliable system is not used for anything important such as driving vehicles around the country for example. |

Oh - I think I forgot to mention adequate beta testing by people who know what they were doing (or supposed to be doing)
One hope is that the beta testing was a bought from 3rd party paid service - we may all be in with a chance of solution if it is so |

I presume the Active Sync version you have is 3.8
It sounds like the issue is the connection between the PC and your 3970. Can you browse the 3970 from the PC? does Active Sync show the device as connected?
Try installing version Active Sync 3.7.1 That is the version that I use and have had no problems with installation or activation of smartST. _________________ Ian.

Hello all I'm new here.
I have the same problem with a 3400 Voice sleave an a hp 5550, Windows XP sp1, Active Sync 3.7.
After installing Navman SmartST Desktop v3.0 for Pocket PC when I run it all thhat happens is 'Please wait while SmartST Desktop is synchronised with your pocket pc' for a few seconds and it exits.
I can browse the h5550.
Any help greatly appreciated.
p.s I'm connecting through a serial port, cant see why that would stop the thing working.
Regards

Fixed this by letting the backup battery in the h5550 go flat to get rid of whatever bit of the old Navman v1 that would not uninstall (I presume).

As a follow up, got this from Navman.
"As you have GPS 3400, you probably have Smart ST V1.91. When you install V3 on your Pocket PC and synchronize it, the SmartST Desktop is looking for a product key. As you had V1 before and now you have version 3, you have two keys and the Navman software is confused. The only solution is to perform a hard reset and reinstall Version 3. After when you synchronize the application with the Smart ST Desktop, it won't crash."
I hope this is of help.
