Hi everyone just found this great site i am a complete novice with gps (never even turned one on) ,i have bought a new motorhome and would like to buy a gps system ,we only tour the uk at present maybe europe in the future,i like the look of the TomTom Go which seems about the simplest and easiest to understand my main question is .if i buy this system can i add all the POI's like safety cameras, national trust sites, nature reserves, height friendly carparks etc .all of this sort of information would be really handy when in strange surroundings,i must say reading through some of the info on these pages i cant wait to have ago,but dont want to buy something thats to complicated to operate or something that doesn't do what i want.
any info on this subject including personal preferances what be a great help thanks to anybody who can spare the time to read this and help
paul

Hi paul_j_c2000,

Welcome to the forum! Thumbs Up

The TomTom Go is an excellent PND (Personal Navigation Device). Just switch it on and go. There is currently just one version, although people are already calling it the Go classic. There are three new GOs (300, 500, and 700) that TomTom have announced with better software and more up-to-date maps. These new GOs will be available in a few weeks time – if not sooner.

Yes you can use the PocketGPS World camera database, and other POIs, with the GO.

Does your motorhome have an overhang, over the front windscreen? If it does then you may get a reduced satellite fix. An external GPS receiver would be useful in that case.

If your motorhome is of Winnebago proportions then you will have to be wary of any small roads that a SatNav package would recommend.

Personal preferences are unique to each individual, I prefer TomTom Navigator on a Pocket PC, but then I am a geek! ;) However the GO is easy to understand, use, and connect to a computer – which you need to do in order to update the camera database and other POIs.

Regards,
