|
|
Hi everyone. As I'm a nooby to the world of GPS,I bought myself a new Navman iCN 610 yesterday, and downloaded the latest update last night, however I have 2 problems which I can't get my head around.
1.When I tried to download the speed camera database,I could only get the files to open in Excel and nothing else, which meant I couldn't apply them to my 610.Why?
2.When I put my 610 in the car this morning to use it,when I switched it on,the USB logo and 2 screens were still there, and wouldn't go away, rendering my 610,basically non operational.
I have e.mailed Navman tech, but am still waiting them to get back to me.
Can anyone help a total nooby in laymans terms? |

Hi, and to the forum.
Possible answers.
1. .csv files open in Excel by default. You can open them using Notepad by opening Notepad, clicking File:Open and changing the filetype from .txt to All files, then navigating to the file you want. If you have Windows XP (I don't know if it works for previous versions) then you can find the file you want using File Explorer, right clicking on it and select "Open with" and finally select Notepad from the dropdown list.
2. Did your 610 work straight out of the box originally? If so it could be that you need to re-install the application programme, which is easily done by connecting the unit to your PC and running the Navman Desktop.
If this doesn't work, come back and we'll try something else. _________________ Tim |

If you connect the iCN (don't forget to switch it on!) to your PC and then run the Navman Desktop, it will come up with something like "Update available, do you want to install?". It may ask for the CD containing the application, and have your keys handy, just in case. Otherwise, try "Setup>Update software>Check for updates on the web". (This is the way I do it on my PPC; hte series of events and titles may not be identical on your version of Navman Desktop.) _________________ Tim |

Mucho success,I think.
It would seem that my 610 has accepted the speed camera database.
I'll try it tomorrow, and report back.
