any techies out there
i am trying to set up a relative's Navman in order to download the camera database but am experiencing a few problems (i'm a ttgo user myself!)...
whilst the unit appears to be functioning ok, i cannot get it to connect to his pc
when plugging in the cable, the unit bleeps then reboots (sometimes a couple of times) before displaying the connection screen, then locks up completely. activesync still attempts to connect; the system tray icon remains green until the cable is removed
the navman then has to be rebooted using the reset switch in order to get it functioning again
is it a faulty unit, cable or pc setup |

i've cracked it... thanks for all your replies
for future reference, if anyone else experiences a similar problem, dissable Norton Antivirus Auto-Protect as it prevents activesync from connecting :o |

It depends who you talk to, (with) and who gives instructions. Definitely not by Jane. _________________ Richard

i haven't tried any other languages other than english & french...
could it be an americanism?
i did a search here & couldnt find the answer to my connectivity problem... but did a search on the expansys forums & hey presto 8)
btw ~
having had the chance to compare the ttgo & navman side by side...
i have to say the ttgo wins hands down!

i assume you are referring as to why the ttgo is better imho?
- more robust (although, granted, it doesn't fit in the pocket)
- far superior audio quality (the inbuilt navman speaker is cr@p!)
- clearer / less cluttered display (e.g. no boxes around road names)
- easier to use (no fiddly buttons)
- a doddle to maintain & customise (drag & drop poi's, voice files etc.)
- better supported (v5 firmware & updated maps imminent)
oh...
& soon to include full uk postcode search :P
