Speed Camera alerts

If I buy a 510 and download the camera database will it still give me the alerts if I am not using it for route guidance Exclamation

Yes, the proximity warning gives alerts in map mode, too.

Thanks. Another question if I may! If after buying the standard 510 I wish to buy the European maps is it necessary to also buy additional memory - if not, why would one need this?

If you think you might need the European maps, I'd buy the iCN510 Premium package now, rather than buying the UK version now and the extra maps later. You'll save money in the long run. Also, I'm not sure what size memory card comes with the 510, but if it is only 128Mb, you will only get the UK on this. The option is to buy a bigger memory card to store your other maps on or load them to your existing card which would necessitate your deleting the maps already on it. I have a 1Gb card (in an iPAQ, but the maps are about the same) and I'm not sure that I can get the whole European mapset onto that.
