|
|
Hi there just bought a tomtom and Ipaq but the Ipaq keeps saying "the gps signal was lost" I am not convinced that it ever found it. Does the TomTom GPS unit have to have power to it or will it take power off of the charged Ipaq ? I think that my cigarette lighter socket may not be working but have also tried it on a friends car that was working to no avail.
Any help would be gratefully recived
ta

What you normally have is a Y-cable that is running from the cigarette lighter socket to both the iPAQ and the serial GPS receiver.
Is your receiver that silver one where the cable is coming out of one corner? If so you can see if the LED is blinking. It is blinking red without a fix and green when it has a fix.
In TomTom in the GPS settings make sure you specify the Serial receiver properly. _________________ Lutz

Thanks no I have the tomtom car kit with a rj11 (I think) going off to the silver gps and the power going there to. I have no leds on on eiter the holder or the unit. I am assuming that even though the Ipaq is charged that it does not give power to the GPS unit is this correct ?

That's right, the power to the GPS receiver needs to come from the car kit. Something's not wired correctly it seems. _________________ Lutz

Do you get a Green light at the bottom of the Ipaq mount and you should have a flashing Green light on the GPS ariel. Also you can set in the TT preferences to show a flasing icon when power is not connected this may help. |
