Any free/cheap mapping/direction software for the UK?

I'm visiting the UK for a weekend and will be travelling all over the southeast (possibly 5-6 different places). As I'm about to get delivery of my new holux 231 just before my trip, I would liek to try it out over there.

Unfortunately, as I reside in the US, I see very lttle value in shelling out the $50-100 that it would take for me to get a mapping guidance software for use in the UK/Europe.

Does anyone know of a cheap or free mapping software for a windows laptop or pocket pc which I can "use and throw"? If it has guidance built in, even better!

Visit www.mapopolis.com. You can download the app. for free and download trial maps which last nine days (from first use, I think). You can download counties of the UK and get TTS voice guidance.
