If I have the system on but no route programmed, it doesn't show my current postion on the map. Is this normal or is there a setting that I need to change. I was hoping to use it as a speed camera warning system even when I havn't programmed a route and was expecting the map to continually show my current position.

Programming a route without having a satellite fix is a bit of a pain, but you should be able to track your location without a route, no problem. Do you have a fix (dish icon in lower left of screen should be green)? When it gets a fix it should start tracking you immediately. If you manually move the map around, either on the touchscreen or with pointer button (as signified by cross hairs on the screen), it won't keep you centered on the map, but if you hit ESC it should keep you on the map again.

That makes sense. I did have satellite lock and it was displaying the name of the road correctly but the map wouldn't remain centred - it just showed where I had started from. I thought that I had tried the escape key but maybe not - I'll try that next time I use the device.
Thanks.

Shaun,

You are looking at the map in 2d (manual) mode. You can either hit ESC and see it in AUTO and it will track you with North pointing up, OR you can hit Page On (the button with four pages on it) and it will track you in 3d mode and display the street you're on with the familiar blue bar at the bottom.
