tomtom3 smooth GUI

OK my mate has a tomtomGO unit and the maps roll by effortlessly, no judder just smooooth

is there anyway to increase the map refresh rate on the pocket PC's GUI, maybe a registery tweak ???

I have a ipaq hx4700 so processor size in not an issue.

It's not the processor that's the problem. The actual processor in the GO isn't all that powerful. It's just that GO uses a different rendering engine to 3.07 and so the maps appear to scroll smoothly, unlike 3.07 where they appear to only move every time the GPS updates so you get a rather jerky movement, so the refresh depends on your GPS, not on the processor.

I'm assuming that the TomTom5 will using the new rendering engine and so give smooth scrolling, however I've not seen any mention of this in the reviews.

And you will be delighted to hear that the V5 upgrade adds this smooth scroll feature. It really is much easier on the eye and I love it on the PocketPC.
