|
|
Hi, if anyone could please help with the following, I would appreciate it.
When using my Navman yesterday I noticed that the warning for a on coming speed camera does not sound until I am going past the camera.
The Distance to POI setting on the POI activation settings is set to 150ft which should be enough if it actually warned me that there was one coming that far from the actual camera.
Also is there supposed to be a visual warning or is that just the camera icon on the map ?
Cheers

Did it just happen once, or for every camera? I would suggest that 150' is too short a distance, only three seconds at thirty mph. I have mine set to 1/4 of a mile, on the basis that I'd rather be warned too early than too late.
If you have 'Visual Warning' set then you should get a banner at the bottom of the screen. At least, that's what you get on the PiN software. _________________ Tim |

Tim's right - there should be a warning that appears at the bottom of the screen, replacing the current street name. It will be called whatever name you called the file eg GATSO. You'll also get the camera icon on the screen.
I set mine to warn me at 600 feet (WHY doesn't Navman work in yards!!!???) and it's just about right. You have to remember that as good as it is, if you're travelling at say 50 mph, the unit is always just a little behind you so the warning will also be a little late. As well as that, if the original co-ords that were submitted for a particular camera are out by say 100 feet, then that will also affect when you are alerted. |

Cheers lads,
Thanks for that I did notice the little gatso name come up along the bottom of the screen.
I will set the distance to POI to a more suitable distance.
Thanks again for your help.

Yet another difference between the iCN and PiN/PPC v3 software...
I set the 'distance' from the POI to receive the visual and audible warning to 150 (50yds)
and the 'time' from the POI to receive the visual and audible warning to 10 seconds.
I find those settings coupled with an extended chime to be perfect for me.
The iCN however only has the option to set distance and not time and when I have time set to anything less than 10secs the warning is too late. That's probably why you are on top of it when the chime sounds. Try 300 or moe as tim suggests.
Make sure Visual warning is ticked on the 'POI Activation Settings' page. _________________ Ian.

600ft on the 510 is about the same as Road Angel 2 at 500.
If you are going 80ish on a motorway I find 600ft is adequate for the warning. |
