Depends on what you want out of it. The 510 is a dedicated navigation solution. That is all it does. This makes it easy to use and it works out the box. Using a PPC with TT (or any other app), you need to install and setup your software. If the batteries go flat on the PPC, you need to reinstall the apps. The 510 does not have the flat battery problem. With a PPC, you also need to have a GPS antenna and get it connected.

A PPC has the advantage it can do all the other things PPC's do. You can also use different navigation software if you don't like what you get initially.

If you want traffic, you will need a PPC beause the 510 dioes not support this feature.
