Hi, anyone running this combination. I have installed traffic-i, works fine... I would like to run tomtom in the background whilst using traffic-i to monitor traffic flow... anyone know if this would cause a problem ??
Thanks |

It won't cause a problem because it won't work! You can only have one application using the GPS at any one time unless you used a 3rd part app such as Franson's GPSGate to split the feed.
Why not use TomTom with the CheckPOInt plug-in and our database if it is the traffic cameras you are after? _________________ Darren Griffin |

However, as Traffic-i does not interface to the GPS, I don't see why it would be a problem - I guess the biggest issue will be whether TomTom is usable with no interface - I know a few maping errors near me result in it saying "Keep Right" when the display and the road require you to keep left. |

Apologies, yes of course I was confusing Travel-I.
As you say, it should work fine in that case. Although it's not as neat as the built-in Traffic solution overlayed on the TomTom map it will however co-exist happily. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Well, I would use tomtoms built in traffic reporting, however, when I tried it last year (june I think) it was pretty ropey... |

Neither are perfec t but in general I'd say yes. I've compared TT Traffic to a Trafficmaster YQ and a year ago the Trafficmaster data was better.
The situation has improved now and TT Traffic is much much better, the data itself is supplied by iTIS who supply TMC data for all the in-car GPS NAv Systems and they would seem to have worked hard to improve the accuracy.
Given TT's facility to overlay traffic data on the map and re-route if your planned route encounters serious traffic problems then I'd say TT Traffic was the better option. _________________ Darren Griffin |
