I'm currently trying to get the safety camera database working on a Sony Ericson P910 smartphone with a GPS programme called GPS Navigator.

I've adapted that database so that my fields are in the right order and imported the data in to the program. It works of a fashion. I get the cameras displayed, but everytime I drive past a camera it doesn't quite equate to my current indicated position. Basically all of the cameras seem to be somewhere offset from where I would expect.

The software I'm using has the option to use longitudes and latitudes in three different format, these being;

hddd,ddddd0
hddd0 mm,mmm'
hddd0 mm'ss,s"

I'm wondering if I'm using the wrong format, which explains why all the cameras are offset from where I would expect. Can anyone explain which format I should be using with the database, or explain what the formats are.

Thanks

The format of the database is hddd,ddddd, which is known as decimal degrees. Anything with a "-" in front of it is either South of the equator or West of Greenwich.

Possibly the h in the above is one of N or S for the Latitude and E or W for the Longitude.
