|

Hi All,
This is my 1st Post in here.
When I'm looking for an address and I type it in, it goes to the
door numbers. I find lots of door numbers come up EXCEPT the one I
NEED. does anyone know why this is? Its NOT a big problem but one
that I find puzzling
Eg, if I'm looking for 300 Any Street, Any Town, Any Where, why does
it come up as.....
1 - 9 Any Street.....
20 - 210 Any Street.....
124 Any Street.....
478 - 500 Any Street.....
I hope someone understood that.....
I thought the whole point of having a satnav system was to go directly to
the exact door number you wanted!
Why couldn't it simple as typing the door number, road name, town, city,
country instead of the other way round.
Does anyone else find this. _________________ kEyMaKeR

Hello KeyMaker
And to the forum.
I think that most gps software is the same, I use Navigon and this only shows about 30% of house numbers, some roads have them, and others don't.
I think this also applies to TomTom, but am not certain. |

Hi,
Tele Atlas are responsible for corelating the information such as house numbers contained within the map data.
Unfortunately any application using the same Tele Atlas data will experience the same short commings. _________________ Ian.

TeleAtlas and Navteq both seem to mark the street numbers at intervals, often at street intersections. From that they estimate the position of the door number you enter.
It works OK if the street is short and the houses are the same size but other times the numbers are off by a fair distance. Take it as a guideline only.... _________________ Gone fishing! |

I have the same problem but tele atlas is not to blame. If I just search by state, city, street, number the range I need will not show... but if i use the zipcode instead of city name the street number will be found. This means the information is on the map and Navman is not correlating the data properly so it is available for all searches. It is making the search parameters way to specific. |

In this case I would report the error to Navman so they can attempt to correct it in the next Service Pack _________________ Ian.
