I pray this is the right forum and if not please direct me in the correct direction.. Wink

I have an old Toshiba Sattlelite 335CDT laptop laying around so I thought "What the heck!!" and purchased Windows Streets and Trips 2005 and a Holux GM-210 USB and at first installation the thing worked great!!

What I am having problems with right now is the Com port assignment... The 210 was using Com 3 and now it is not recognized.. I have uninstalled the USB driver and reinstalled it and the LED light on the GPS mouse is blinking (it works) but the software is not communicating with the GPS mouse receiver... (I hope I'm making sense Confused) ) .. Any help here would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks in advance to any and all that help...

It is well possible that the serial port emulation for your USB receiver is using varying ports. Did the usb driver come with a diagnostics program? If not then maybe you can use the device manager to verify which COM port it is emulating right now.

Now as far as a diagnostic program that came with the Holus 210, I don't think so or should I say I don't know. .

There is a scan function in MS Streets and Trips 2005 and a scan function in the program that came with the 210... Both scanned and verified that Com 3 was the asssigned port and I verified the same through Device Manager .. Right now I still have no communication between tHe Holux software or the MS Streets and Trips but the blinking LED on the 210 receiver tells me the 210 is receiving but not communicating with any of the aforementioned software....

It's got me befuddled.. The only thing I haven't done is to reinstall XP Home Edition to see if I might correct a corrupted file..
