Switching Tomtom from Palm T3 to C500 - Can I? Should I?

I have Tomtom for my Palm T3 with their Bluetooth receiver. I was considering switching it to my C500 for convenience. Having read the forums I can see it's possible to have TT on the C500, but I'm a bit confused by the details.

My understanding is that I can use the same receiver, but can I transfer the data from my SD card to a Mini SD and plug it in or would I better to eBay my kit for the T3 and buy Tomtom mobile?

Apart from the small screen, are their any other significant disadvantages I should take into account?
