Hi,
Has anyone noticed any differences in the accuracy of SP1? I have. Instead of saying "destination" as the old version did right outside my gate it now says it 2 more houses down the street. I have a good lock on to 7 satalites.
Also I don't really like the screen when driving without a destination programed in. The old version kept you in the middle of the screen and rotated the map in the direction you where going. For some reason this does not happen. Very confusing sometimes.
Anyone have any thoughs.
Richard. |

Richard,
You can get the new version to keep you in 'heads up' display, too. Set a route and wait for it to calculate. When it's finished calculating, try to set another route. You will get a message asking if you want to cancel the existing route. Tap 'Yes', then tap the 'Back' arrow in the bottom right hand corner. Hey presto, heads up display with no route set.

Yes, thanks Tim. I'll give that a go myself. Navman have got back to me with the accuracy issue and say that it will be fixed in SP1a due on the 18th. I gotta say they really screwed up with the testing of SP1. How many beta testers do you think they had..... One I bet They must have known all these problems existed when they brought out the patch. One thing I will say is that the new womans voice is a hell of a lot better!!

How do Navman obtain choose beta testers - surely they could speak with dave and allow members here to apply to be beta testers, they would have been aware ogf the issues with sp1 withion hours. Hows come none of their beta testers displayed no problems with fixing and the screen jumping?

Or instead of involving Dave, you could always make the offer to Navman direct!
As to your second question, I don't know. How many users do you theink there are of SmartST Pro? I have no idea personally, but I'd say lots. How may complaints have there been? I'd say not many. For myself, I've had no problems regarding jumping, sat lock, etc.. I'm sure many others are in the same boat.

Lee, we have offered our services or or around half a dozen times, but like with most companies, they only take you up on the offer when everything goes pear shaped.
I have been asked if we wouldn't mind testing the new SP1A before it gets publically released and I have agreed to this. Unfortunately with everything else on my workload list I hadn't had a chance to apply SP1, so I don't know for sure if I would have seen the problems reported here.
Most of the times beta testers are selected from a selection of people who have requested to test the next version. Not all will be selected who ask. |
