I've just purchased one of these units and want to add three more "voices" that are on the tom tom website. When I run setup, it installs on the pda but then says this may not work because it was designed for an earlier version of windows mobile 2003. Does anyone know if it is possible to upload these new voices into the tom tom software and how I can do this.
Thanks in advance, Lee. |

You may have downloaded the wrong voice files. Do they install onto the Pocket PC as WAV? _________________ Lutz

Are you saying the new voices do not work - I helped a member of my family who has one of these units and most of the programmes I loaded on said this, and they still worked....(it comes loaded with Windows Mobile 2003 and TT3 had an update disk that needed to be loaded with this software instead of the original) |

This has nothing to do with the Pocket PC OS version.
You cannot use v3 voices on v4 and vice versa. _________________ Lutz

lbendlin,
OK I know you can not use v3 voices on v4. Lee does not say which version of TomTom he has.
But the reported response does have something to do with the OS version. On 2003 SE, this exact response kept showing just loading TT3 on the 1710, unless you used the update disk. Also loading Sprite backup, and Storage tools gave the same response.

Hi,
I do have version 4. I never realised the voices on the tom tom website were v3 only. Anybody know if the voices will be made available for v4 at any point soon.
Cheers,
Lee. |

The OP mentioned the 1710 device which is is bundles with v4 TomTom in the HP Navigation Bundle. You're correct that he didn't specifically state which version but it was a fair assumption that it was v4. _________________ Darren Griffin |
