I have acess to a Tom Tom Go (Mine), ICN 510 (the wifes) and a TT3 PDA system (also mine)

In May I will be driving from Calais to Ypres in Belgium to take my father in law to visit some of the WW1 & WW2 sites.

As we will be trying to get to specific places in Belgium I have decided to purchase the area maps, all 3 systems already have "major roads of Europe maps".

Am I right in believing that all three systems use same map data?

If so is there any differance in the quality of the maps?

The real question, which should I buy the new maps for?

Thanks for any help re this

Alan

They use the same data provider, but I believe that the GO and iCN use the same version, while that in TT3 is one release behind. The main differences between the GO and the iCN are that the iCN wil route across maps and you can plan a 12 stop itinerary with it. The Go can do neither of these, as I understand it.

The TT3 can do the itinerary stuff but can also not route across maps.

Tim,

Thanks for reply.

I have looked into this a bit further and it appears that Navman are offering a "Full Street Level Pan European Map Set" for £149 whilst TT only offer individual country / region sets at 149 euros (no good at conversions)

I have placed a question re: this on TT's site asking if they have any intention of producing a similarly priced package.

Regards

Alan

I thought that Tomtom offered their Western Europe maps for £100 or so to registered users?

Tim is correct - you can get a "Maps of Western Europe" add-on package for TomTom Navigator 3 for around 100 pounds - you can see it on the TomTom web site here, though it's available from UK resellers for around £100. You do need a 'country' version of Navigator as well, though - such as Navigator 3 Great Britain.

The TomTom Navigator 3 maps are a little old, as Tim says - they're a little over a year old now. We're expecting a new version of TomTom Navigator to be announced in the next few months.

Tim / David,

Thanks very much for this.

Too busy looking at TTG & ICN info.

I have had TT3 maps GB / MRof Europe for a year now and the maps on the link appear to be ideal.

Particularly as there will be 5 of us travelling and they have agreed to add the cost of the maps into the general pot for petrol etc.

Once again thanks for the help

Regards

Alan
