Hi, I`m new to all of this but these forums seem like a great place to start...
Ok, I managed to get the Active sync working ok and the POIedit ok-ish after the IE settings thing and managed to get it all to work, and it does work very well!
The thing is tho the POIedit has stopped auto starting with activesync when I connect the PDA, no biggie I`ll just start it manually, handy as it was, but hey!?!?!?
The thing is when I select the POI`s to download to the PDA, the box that pops up with the destination to download to is completely blank! even clicking refresh does nowt but if I just accept it all 'as is' the POI`s will download to the root of my 'Device' and I can just cut and paste them into the GB map folder and all is well!
I`m just wondering if there`s a fix/workaround for this 'blank box' cuz it`d be a damn site easier to just plug in and let it roll!!
Al, if you're seeing a blank window when you try to choose the save box in POIEdit, it's because it's trying to connect to your docked Pocket PC via ActiveSync. If the PPC is docked then it's probably because you're runing 3.7.1 or above. 3.7.1 was known to have problems allowing third party apps to connect through ActiveSync. Downgrading to 3.7 or below should resolve this (there are download links in the downloads menu on the website).
Failing that, you may be running a personal firewall and have blocked ActiveSync or one of the DLL's, temporarily allowing this or shutting down the personal firewall like ZoneAlarm or Norton Firewall (or XP Firewall) may help resolve the problem, and if it does resolve it, you know you need to do some tweaking on the firewall to allow it through in future.
