Why would you want to do a detour in planning mode? These buttons are active in Guidance mode.

If you want to influence the route during planning, use the itinerary function

Thats exactly what I mean - using the itenary function in planning mode I am unable to use the detour or return to original route buttons - they only work whilst in guidance mode on the itenary screen

a detour is something you need to do when you hit an obstacle. What you want to do is an itinerary, not a detour.

This is kind of hard to explain !!
When I am planning a route on the pocket PC I am in planning mode and I enter my stops, I then get CoPilot to calculate the route and I look at the itenary to see what roads I am going to be sent on.
CoPilot sometimes sends me on a road I don't want to take but I have no way of changing this in planning mode as the buttons are greyed out (The Road with a No entry sign is the best way of describing this button)

That's how the software is designed. If you want to change the route use an itinerary. For detours you need to be moving.

Call it a bug if you like, but this is how it works.
