i had a hp 5550 and i had no problems reinstalling with tom tom 3 , and when the jacket was placed on, it automatically connected without me having to do any manual connections on the gps settings section of tom tom. worked brill
Ive loaded up tom tom3 in my compaq and maps on the cfc that goes into the gps jacket. on connection it acknowledges jacket etc and everything seems fine but its not finding any satellites even though the diagram shows you that its beaming down to the ipaq. I know you may covered this, but i cant find it and would apreciate any help. thanyou.

which settings did you use in TomTom GPS? If I recall correctly these should be Standard NMEA 4800 on COM4.

thx, before it just done it automatically on my 5550, now on my 3950 it does give option for nmea 4800 but the port selector com4 is not an option:- copilot_gps jkt, com3, irda connection, com5, serial cable on bt, serial on com1, serial on usb are the options.

ive discovered that if i never installed the copilot software that come with this jacket then it may need a driver put on to work with tom tom3? is it correct to say that this jacket ( pocket copilot) which come with copilot software will not work with the navman drivers as there are variations of the driver software. I have not got any copilot software now and wonder how i can get this thing going.

the jacket is newer type with square receiver. it has the following scripture on:

copilot gps jacket. Model IGPSJ MODEL NO D15A8

again any further help would be great. thx

COM4 is the same as copilot_gps jkt.

You do not need a driver for this type of jacket - the driver is integrated, as soon as you insert the jacket it starts emulating the COM port.

What you may need is an older TomTom GPS driver. It will definitely work with TomTom GPS 2.06. But try the copilot_gps jkt setting first.
