Hi there,

I ordered a Globalsat BT-318 for my 4150, have attempted to install it.. however Tomtom does not seem to recognise it/it does not send any GPS data? (I do not have a clue about getting these things up and running by the way..!)

I have used the Holux GPS Viewer, and produced the following results:

COM1:(None)
COM2:(Open Failed)
COM3:(None)
COM4:(Open Failed)
COM5:(Open Failed)
COM6:(Open Failed)
COM7:(Open Failed)
COM8:(None)
COM9:(None)
COM10:(Open Failed)
COM11:(Open Failed)

Bluetooth is connected (Bluetooth manager> hold & click connect, blue light flashes rapidly on unit)..?!

On the 4150 go into the BlueTooth settings and make sure the outgoing serial COM port service is enabled without authorization or encryption. make note of the COM port (should be COM 5or COM6)

Do a soft reset, uninstall your TomTom GPS driver (NOT the TomTom Navigator), do a soft reset, install TomTom GPS driver 2.07 from our downloads page, and then specify the COM port from above together with "Standard NMEA 38400" in the GPS driver settings.

Hi,

How exactly do I uninstall the driver? I've tried installing this one over the other, however my PDA crashes on next boot each time, and hard resets when I have to forcefully shut it down (Battery out..) which can't be healthy. Is there a way of installing only the driver/can someone supply me with it?

Cheers yet again, this is a great help,

Louis.

Taking the battery out briefly is not a hard reset. (with a hard reset you would lose all the data)

Please tap Start > Settings > System > Remove Programs and list the programs that are shown.

It was hard resetting - lost all information on PDA, and displayed the Welcome to Windows page - solved this by uninstalling the old driver first.

I have installed the new driver, but now when I select the NMEA 38400 driver, and COM port 6, no GPS data is displayed. If I connect to the device in the bluetooth manager, then try to start the Tomtom GPS program, the connection is dropped?

Have you setup the GPS in BT Manger?
If so can you connect to it in BT Manager?
Pair the device in Bt Manager.

If so the com ports should be
Tom Tom Navigator GPS
Bluetooth Serial Port Com 6 for the 4150

I own a 4150 and that is the correct com ports.

I have just paired the two of them, still no luck.. I can connect to it, but as soon as I open the GPS program for Tomtom, the connection drops?

I installed WinFast Navigator, and ran a Factory Settings command to the adaptor, and it's totally sorted the problem - seems it was the device all along! Thanks to both of you for all your help (especially Bendlin) - much, much appreciated Smile
