Hi everyone.

Could anybody tell me if a non xtract receiver (bluetooth type) will work when it's kept inside a bag or maybe a mobile phone pouch?

I'm actually using an xtrac v2 receiver, and I always keep it inside a mobile phone pouch. It's able to track my movements when I walk, I don't see any of the lag that was mentioned by a couple of users, except in areas where there are high buildings or dense foliage that is when it starts lagging or the pointer just jump out of place. As using an xtrac 2 will require velocity before it can get a reading, I'm thinking of changing to a non-xtract receiver. Thus I need advise and comments for those members who have used a standard receiver inside a pouch or bag and can get a close to accurate reading.

Thanks!

standard receivers have exactly the same sensitivity as XTrac, and they are affected in the same way by any fabric, leather or plastic that is obscuring the sky view. The only difference with Xtrac is that is it using signals to a point where the standard receiver "throws the towel" because the signal is either too weak or too distorted.

You mentioned urban canyons - you have to expect inferior performance there using a standard receiver. Especially in multi path environments (signals bouncing off high rise buildings) Xtrac does indeed have an advantage. If Xtrac is jumping around there then a standard receiver will do that even more.

Out in the field with open sky view there is no difference.
