I have active sync 3.7 installed on my PC. When i connect the phone to the computer, the little green disc has it little spinning action. Then i get "Your device is not connected".

If i click on get connected it goes to the looking for devices & then just shows "Your device is not connected again".

Surely it knows the phone has been connected, as it starts the little green thing spinning when i first connect it?

Any idea's greatly appreciated.

Paul

Make sure that you have version 3.7.1 or 3.8 installed - it works here fine.

I have 3.7.1 installed.

It still only shows "your device is not connected".

I dont know if this will help at all. I am running windows XP Pro.

When i go into the device manager, it does list the smart phone under the USB section. So it knows that the phone is connected to the computer?

Try disabling the XP Firewall and see if this makes a difference. Also try running the latest 3.7.1 build from Microsoft.com (there's currently two different builds available) or try 3.8.

If that doesn't work, there's some registry settings causing a problem, delete the partnership and try to re-create the partnership from fresh.

Do you have any other ActiveSync partnetships i.e. PocketPC? Is the C500 connected directly to the PC's USB Port or via a USB hub? It must be direct.

Try powering off the handset, rebooting the PC, power on the C500 and connect to USB.

I have tried rebooting the pc, the usb is connected straight into the pc. not thru a hub. I have a usb keyboard and a usb mouse plugged in as well. Dont think i have any other partnerships with active sync, as i uninstalled it then re-installed it. restarted the pc, plugged usb cable in, plugged cable into phone. & still the same.

I done a soft reset on the phone (taking the battery out while still switched on) restarted the phone. Plugged cable into pc, plugged cable into phone. Still the same.

Just lights up and spins for about 3 - 4 seconds then shows "Your device is not connected"

V3.8 of ActiveSync is now available. Would you mind installing that to see if it cures your problem?

I've not heard of any issues with v3.8.

If you right-click the ActiveSync icon in your system tray, select 'Connection Settings' and confirm 'Allow USB Connection' with this desktop computer is enabled.

Thanks very much for your time on this 1 Darren,

I have checked & "allow USB connection" is the only 1 i have ticked. sorry, apart from the show icon on DT tray.

When i check in device manager, it shows that the phone is there.

I've also tried it on a friends computer, and it worked fine on his one. When plugged it into his computer, it recognised it and worked straight away. So i know that there's nothing wrong with the cable or the unit itself?

Hmm, OK, unplug the phone, open ActiveSync and select File | Delete Partnership if one exists. Then reconnect and try again.

Delete partnership is greyed out, so cannot click on it. The only 1's that are highlighted for me to click on are the bottom 3.

Get Connected
Connection settings
