|
|
I have a Compaq Ipaq with TomTom installed on it. I only use the ipaq for the GPS. Its been working fine but tonight I was in the car playing around with it and now when I attempt to load TomTom Navigator I get the following message:
Internal Application Error: Out Of Memory
I click OK and then get the next message:
General Exception: Out Of Memory
I have reset the ipaq but still it tells me the same message. No other applications are running. I haven't deleted any files or anything. As I say, I was just looking around Tom Tom software.
Any help would be great!
Thanks,

One possibility that I've seen happen to my mother's system - go into Notes and look for a big voice recording. If you find one, tap and hold over it, and choose Delete.
This happens when the voice recording button gets jammed down when the Pocket PC is being carried; the iPAQ's memory gets filled up with the voice recording file.

Nope, doesn't appear to be that problem.
It tells me on the storage card that I have a total of 121.85mb with 91.28mb in use and free 30.57mb.

It's not likely to be storage card memory you're out of. What do you see in the first tab of Start Menu, Settings, System tab, Memory for free storage and program memory?
If you appear to have a reasonable amount of spare memory, your maps may be corrupt or your settings files may be corrupt. You can rename the settings files out of the way (try renaming the TomTom Navigator Settings folder in My Documents) to see if that helps. If not, try reinstalling your maps.

When I turn on the ipaq its so slow now....and takes ages for me to select a program.
Anyway I have checked it and have the following info:
PROGRAM:
Allocated: 31.01mb
In Use: 6.07mb
Free: 24.94mb
I am tempted to reinstall everything but really want to know why its behaving like this before I do.
Thanks for your help.

If you soft reset, is the iPAQ slow even then? If so, the problem may be other than with the TomTom software - especially if the touchscreen isn't working correctly.
It sounds like you have plenty of memory spare.
It's a bit of a mystery. In the end, you may have no option but to hard reset and set up everything again from scratch, though I share your frustration at not being able to understand what's happening.
