voice prompts including street names

The answer to my question may be somewhere on this marvelous site but I've searched these forums (fora ?) and I can't seem to find the answer. Do TomTom Navigator voice prompts include the name of the street one is turning onto?? e.g. does it announce " Turn right onto Main Street" ? Living in a large city (Denver) with considerable traffic looking away from traffic is something I would rather not do. I would like to rely on the voice prompts alone. I purchased a Blekin Bluetooth GPS (I'm very happy with it) and it includes a rather comprehensive software package based on Deluo Routis I believe. It seems to have most of the TomTom function as far as I can tell. However it does not announce street names for turns. Does TomTom do that ? I have on order a copy of TomTom 2004 but it is on backorder until mid January.

No, TomTom does not do this either.

The technical term is TTS - Text-To-Speech. A speech synthesizer that can transform written text into more or less understandable sound.

And this is also the problem - TTS is of much lower quality than WAV files. Sometimes you won't even understand what it's trying to tell you and you have to look at the screen again - defying the whole idea of voice navigation.

Programs that use TTS (and speak street names) include ALK CoPilot, Mapopolis Navigator, and SpaceMachine PocketMap Navigator.

All the other major programs use high quality WAV or OGG files.
