|
|
Okay, I'm about to throw this whole system out the window, but let's see if anyone knows what the issue is here.
Problem: Can't get my iPAQ rx3715 to get a GPS reading. Ever. I've never gotten past "GPS position unreliable."
The equipment I'm working with:
a. TT wireless GPS receiver (Bluetooth)
b. TT Navigator USA (v. 2.24)
c. HP iPAQ rx3715
The reciever appears to have a fix (green light is blinking).
BT connection is made (blue indicator light illuminates).
But I have YET to get past "gps position unreliable" or see any connections to satellites. The "gps status" screen has yet to be anything but greyed out.
Please help, as I'm planning to return this whole mess on Monday if I can't get a solution. Been troubleshooting for 3 days straight and it's ridiculous.
Thanks! |

have you left the gps receiver in a clear veiw of the sky for around 30mins(say in the car or on a window ledge) before using it so it can get a proper fix then each time after that you should get a fix with in a few seconds of turning the unit on. If you cant get a fix in the car at all place the unit on the top of the car roof (while sationary) to see if you get a better fix as you may have an athermic windscreen and it may be better mounting the receiver in the back of the car or getting an external aireial also if your not on or near a road you will get a postion unreliable _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Jackie,
can you please report which version of the TomTom GPS driver you are using.
Also, in your BlueTooth settings, what is listed as the Outgoing COM port? _________________ Lutz

Thanks for your speedy reply.
I've been looking for the gps version but don't know where to find it. Can you tell me?
The outgoing COM port says 6. Then there's a check mark next to the paragraph: "Default device for outgoing serial connections: TomTom Wireless GPS. Display the device selection screen the next time an outgoing serial connection is attempted."
Don't know what that means either. |

Yes, it's been sitting in the window, happily blinking, for days. I had it outside for about an hour... I've tried all sorts of places. According to the indicator light, which is blinking green, I am getting a fix.
Is that wrong? |

Yes, it's wireless.
I tried that yesterday. I recharged it while it was on. Maybe I should recharge it while it's off? |

you find the GPS driver version by tapping Start > Settings > System > GPS > GPS.
You possibly have a "bad" TomTom GPS driver that is redirecting the COM port. _________________ Lutz

I've tried every option, including all of the bluetooth configurations.
Nothing.
It's a sad day. |

2.09 is a very bad version. Please completely uninstall this GPS driver and re-install version 2.07 from our downloads page. _________________ Lutz

Unfortunately, 2.07 wreaks havoc with my pda. Everything now hangs or crashes.
Ugh.
What next, coach?
Thank you for your efforts on this. |

I'm not on a 4700. I'm using an iPAQ rx3715. Twice now I've installed 2.07 and everything comes to a crashing halt.
I'm going to start looking at a plan "b" for gps. This is way too irritating and complicated.
Thanks for trying. |
