Anyone got any views on the suitability of the Ipaq hx2410 for running TomTom3. There seems to be so many PDAs on the market and it is a technology I am not currently familiar with. What are the key features I should be looking for?

Think I have decided that TomTom3 with a Fortuna GPS are the products for me.
Thanks
Chris

As far as we know TTN3 is compatible with all ARM based machines that run at least PocketPC 2002. So yours should not be a problem either. Your only limitation is the missing serial port, so you need to use BT GPS (which you plan to do anyhow)

iPAQ hx2410 has a serial port according to the HP Worldwide QuickSpec. See the "Other interfaces" box on page 2.

According to the other Worldwide QuickSpecs, the rz171n, rx311n, rx341n, rx371n, hx470n, hx275n, hx241n and hx211n iPAQs (in each case, the last n means "any digit") all have serial ports. The h6300 series lacks a serial port (and apparently only has 1-bit SDIO support - not 4-bit SDIO support). As such, the h6300 series seem to be the only current iPAQs that don't have a serial port.

The h19nn, h211n, h41nn and h43nn iPAQs are all, so far as I remember, discontinued or about to be discontinued - and I haven't checked them except for noting that many h19nn iPAQs don't have serial ports.

If anyone wants to double check their proposed purchase, you can get to the HP Worldwide QuickSpecs for Pocket PCs here.

Thanks for the detailed list. Now if _someone_ (hint, hint) could update the Comparison database - that would be even more fab...
