Help Please..before I go completly insane from advertising and people speaking gobbledook..

I will be purchasing my first satnav system just after Xmas and I need some sensible and parctical advice.

What do I buy ? I have a budget of about £375.00 do I go for an all in one unit or a pda type?

It will be used between two vehicles on a fairly regular basis and whilst I can see the advantages that the PDA can be used for addreses etc ,I am more concerned about getting the right unit that will get me to where I want to go and back again with the minimum of aggro

Remember everybody had to start somewhere, I know abosolutly nothing about this

Many thanks

You may say I am biased just because we sell cables but I always have preference for PDA + handheld solution, for beginners or experienced.

In this set up, you have the best of 3 worlds:

1. PDA use, you can choose the best suited PDA without (almost) worrying the GPS side.
2. PDA connected to GPS for fancy navigation software.
3. Handheld GPS on its own. I cannot overrate the usefulness of a standalone GPS especially for newcomers to GPS world. A lot of fun can be had with a handheld. Many features of a handheld just simply cannot be found with a muse/BT GPS or even a PDA with integrated GPS.

Give a thought on this set up.

Hi Pyxis - you have come to the best place for answering your questions. Check out the various review links and also check through the posts in the forums.
You will find that everything depends on your intended use. I bought a PDA and TT3 Bluetooth. I suppose overall I am satisfied with the package but I do find it cumbersome to use regularly in the car.
One does not want to leave PDA bits on display so it means putting it all away for each car trip - a bit of a pain but does give me a handy PDA for other uses away from the car.
If I was buying again to use just for car navigation then I think I would go for an all in one system which would be easier to set going each trip.
Good luck in your choice!
