I have recently bought the above PDA which came with ViaMichelin software, overall I am very pleased with it although there are a couple of irretations that someone might be able to help me with.

It came with a 128mb sd card, with only about 2 mb free once the map had been installed onto it. About every 4 or 5 times it crashes when trying to download a map saying not enough memory, i have to hard reset it a few times then it seems to work, any ideas on freeing up more space without having to buy new SD?

Is there anyway of getting any postcode software installed as i find not having this facility quite a pain!!

Can i get the routes i am trying to configure to save onto the PDA not the SD card?

Any help on these topins or general tips would be great. Thanks

Tips,

1. get a USB SD card reader so you can create maps on PC and copy to card they are under a fiver (I got one from 7dayshop for £2).

2. If you have crashes/problems, then reduce the mapsize until this doesn't happen, I find with my Zire 31 with 10.5Mb free internal memory, I have to keep mapsize under 80Mb and have no problems then.

3. Use MapStore on PC to create seperate maps for each region of the UK, ie full country main roads only no polygons, then a section of the country (southwest/southeast/north) with minor roads and polygons. If you have space on your SD card you can store all of these maps on it, for easy switching between (POIs are all stored in internal memory so are global to all maps!), if not then keep the mapfiles on your PC so you can easily copy them onto SD card if you plan to travel to that area. Or if you commonly travel to certain area's create a personal map which has main roads for all of UK, and minor roads/polygons for just the area's you visit regularly, with a bit of juggling its very quick/easy to create maps to suite your normal travelling plans.

3. Get a bigger SD card, 512Mb cards are around £24 from ebuyer.com etc and you can always use the 128Mb one for MP3 files or backups.

4. Download innerbackup its a free palm app which backs up your PDA to SD card so you can restore it if you have to do a hard reset. I got it from
http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/innerbackup2005.shtml

5. Download filez its another free app which allows you to check/delete/modify files on your palm and SD card easily.
I got it from http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/filez.shtml

James.
